Dog Rescue Shelters - Getting Your First Dog
Dog rescue shelters could be a God sent blessing to someone who is looking for a dog for a pet. Dog rescue shelters are not a place to get pure bread dogs but, the shelters make sure the dogs are well adjusted and ready for a new home environment. So, what would you expect when walking into a dog rescue shelter? Well, first off expect the place to be very noicy. Most of these dogs are not trained and probably lacking human interaction at this time. They are begging for some attention. So, they are definitly going to be vocal. But this is good. If your looking for a dog that is not as vocal then you will be able to pick out your match much easier. Also, expect that the shelter will nuter your dog before you go home with it. Nutering is to control the dog population so that it does not get too large. Its also to protect the dogs. If the population of dogs gets to large they are most likly to end up back in a pond or shelter. Shelters can't keep all the animals and eventually some have to be destroyed. Nuturing protects against this. Expect that the shelter will require that you have the dog shot caught up. Believe me this is not a bad thing. If a dog gets sick and you have to take it to the vet, you will see what I mean. Vets are even more expensive than you or me going to the doctor. And most of the time dog owners don't carry pet insurance. But even with pet insurance the bill could be very high. Also, expect that they will be watching you to see if you are a good candidate to even take the dog from the shelter. Most of these dogs may have been abrused and the last thing shelters want to do is put them back into the same situation that they were rescued from. So, expect that the shelters will be asking a lot of questions about your background. But after all that is over and you are approved to take your dog home your done. You will have a happy and loving companion that will cherish your love for the rest of its life. Their are a abundance of dogs that need adoption, please look to Dog Rescue Shelters first when looking for a new dog companion.
